Position in the hierarchy

The Language Analyst is a member of the Language Analysts team, belonging to the Production staff, and reports to the Language Analyst Manager.

Role and Goal

The Language Analyst supports the Program Manager in securing and growing the strategic accounts. The LA adds value to the strategic customers through Language expertise and makes sure that for all languages of the assigned accounts the approach to all linguistic aspects is consistent and efficient. The LA is also responsible of quality monitoring, analysis and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the best linguistic processes for each strategic account he/she is in charge of
  • Analyse the source material of new projects for the strategic accounts, thus being able to define the translation instructions and process
  • Suggest terminology, glossary, style guide creation and validation processes
  • Troubleshoot linguistic issues
  • Train and support the Language Leads per language, defining their role and tasks and making sure they are used properly, and they know their tasks
  • Set the language quality standards of localization tasks for both internal and external translators, post-editors, revisers, and testers
  • Support the implementation of Machine Translation and post-editing processes in the projects and support the company’s adaptation to these processes
  • Provide all necessary instructions, information about customer requirements, linguistic resources (terminology, style guide, query logs, etc.) to external language resources at project level and more generally, to make sure all linguists are familiar with the account and what they need to do to ensure quality
  • Assess and/or manage and control the language quality for both internal and external translators, post-editors, revisers, and testers, using WOL or other QMS tools, and define processes to react to poor quality
  • Document all linguistic processes and exceptions to processes as part of the general project documentation
  • Cooperate closely with Recruiting and Resourcing Leads to ensure that external resources execute according to the required quality standards and attend status meetings with external resources. Support Procurement in implementing recruiting strategies for maintaining quality through recruiting the right linguists
  • Be in direct contact with strategic customers to understand their requirement, suggest process improvement or solutions, attend meetings with quality stakeholders if needed, review performance, keep them informed about quality …
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities at a project and company level with a particular regard to language tasks and quality. This continuous improvement should be done in accordance with the management objectives.
  • Establish systems for systemically gathering quality data for the accounts they are assigned to, in order to get accessible quality data for all language pairs and content types

  • Query management

Skills

  • Degree in translation or linguistic-related studies
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar function
  • English as main working language. Native speaker of German, French, Spanish or Russian is a plus
  • Data analysis, SEO, Computational Linguistics knowledge is a plus
  • Specialization in IT-related materials, and/or technical/marketing documentation
  • Previous experience with Machine translation and post-editing processes* Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Extensive user of Windows desktop, email, and file management applications
  • Knowledge of software localization and CAT tools and techniques
  • Team-worker with good communication and interpersonal skills, open to change and enthusiastic about new technologies
