Jonckers will be participating in the Internationalization & Unicode Conference (IUC32) September 8th-10th in San Jose, CA. IUC32 is the premier technical conference for both software and Web internationalization as well as a great opportunity for networking with other practitioners. The three-day conference will again feature a full day of tutorials followed by two days of presentations, panels and discussions. There will also be technology exhibits and demonstrations. There will be plenty of opportunity for networking at birds-of-a-feather special interest gatherings and at the meeting breaks, lunches and receptions. Sessions will cover a range of topics including internationalization, globalization, the Web, security, and localization to name a few. There will be a mix of case studies, panel discussions and technical discussions geared towards beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners.

Harnessing the value of linguistic resources through an industry co-operative. The third TAUS Summit is scheduled for March 19-21, 2008 in Boston. Its key aim is to reach a consensus on the structure and the business model for the language data sharing co-operative. The user and technology scenarios will be reviewed in detail. The benefits of pilot projects will be benchmarked and the implementation schedule will be established. The goal is to found the Co-operative during June 2008. Decision makers representing corporate and institutional users of translations, practitioners and technology companies have come to TAUS Summits to define a new business model for the cross-industry sharing of language resources. CHINA Forum 2008, located in Beijing, will build on the themes from last year’s conference: improving localization quality, the consequences of increased Chinese prominence in global markets, and content creation for international markets.
